Newborn Classes at HealthyKids Pediatrics in Frisco, TX

We believe the road to healthy living starts at birth.

That is why we are happy to announce we will be offering new baby classes (ages 2 weeks to 2 months) the second Wed nesday of the month beginning December 12th.

Each month our new Nurse Practitioner, Stephanie Brennan, will offer this class at 1:00 p.m.

This class is an opportunity to ask questions you may have forgotten about in your newborn appointment, questions regarding sleep schedules, feeding and milestones.

Your baby will be given an examination as well.

This is a wonderful opportunity to check your new baby's weight in between appointments, particularly if you have concerns.

Additionally, this class provides the perfect opportunity to talk to other new parents and feel a sense of community. Sometimes being a new parent brings challenging days so we want to provide a space to be with others in the same boat to share ideas and experiences.

If you have a fussy baby and would like to have a Zyto scan performed to rule out any food sensitivities you may be passing to baby, please let reception know at check out and we will get you scheduled.  Click here to learn more about Zyto Scans.

Learn more about the Zyto scan here.

Please call 972-294-0808 to schedule your newborn class appointment.

Telehealth Appointments at Healthy Kids Pediatrics, Frisco

We are excited to announce that beginning in February, 2018, Healthy Kids Pediatrics will be offering telehealth appointments to all our patients.

These appointments can be done from your office, on the go or from the comfort of your own home.

Telehealth appointments will be for:

Telehealth Photo

  • Lab reviews
  • Follow up appointments
  • Medication discussions & any advice required
  • Chronic conditions and concerns

In the past we have utilized a triage nurse to answer patient questions. However going forward, we will no longer be answering questions via phone call but with an actual live video appointment with one of our providers.

Please note that this includes emails sent to the office. You may of course send an email with questions to the office and a telehealth appointment will be scheduled for you.

Please contact your insurance companies to see if telehealth is a covered benefit with your insurance plan. This is not something we can check for you, you will have to look into your benefits via phone call or online.

Telehealth appointments will be billed to your insurance.

If you are a self-pay patient, you will be able to pay for the appointment online through our epayments section of our patient portal. (epayments will be available in February).

Dr. Bain and our other providers will NOT be conducting sick or well child appointments via telehealth. At HKP we believe that we need to physically be able to see, assess and examine your children if they are not feeling well, as they may require further testing. They will, however answer any questions you may have regarding medications or advice needed via telehealth.

You must have signed up for our patient portal to be able to have a tele-health appointment. You can download the Healow app to your phone or can access Healow through the patient portal when it is time for your appointment.

Please note your child must also have been seen within the last 6 months in our office to be able to conduct a telehealth appointment.

Dr. Bain now hosting Group Visits

Big Changes Ahead. . . . . .

Healthy Kids Pediatrics is transforming your medical home into your medical community!

Starting in July 2014 Dr. Bain will be hosting Group Visits forpreventative visits (well child checks) for ages 12 months and younger as well as chronic medical issues including eczema, allergies and ADHD.

What to Expect

When you arrive for your appointment you will be escorted to a private exam room where your child will receive a quick exam from Dr. Bain and address some specific or very short issues.

You and your child will then meet in the group visit room with other parents and with children the same age or the same medical diagnosis depending on the type of visit. In this casual environment we hope that parent's will
chat and get to know each other.

Dr. Bain will come in and talk on some very specific topics related to your child's age or medical condition. For instance, at the 1 Month Well Child Check one of the topics will be Optimal Nutrition for the Breastfeeding Mom.  At the 6 month Well Child Check one of the topics will be Optimal First Foods for Your Baby.  At the Eczema visit the Topic will be focused on our Healing Program.

Then we can break out and those that need vaccines or will go back to an exam rooms where a nurse will be waiting for you or to check out to schedule lab appointment. .

Benefits of GROUP Appointments

Aside from more time with Dr. Bain some of the other advantages include:

  • Minimal waiting room time - since these appointments will start promptly. Be sure to be here on time so you won't miss anything!
  • Improved and predictable accesses since appointments are held weekly at the same time and can accommodate multiple patients at once.

Will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Set the agenda for what you would like to discuss with Dr. Bain - the questions and concerns you have
  • Schedule more frequent appointments with Dr. Bain if necessary
  • Have more time with Dr. Bain - to have your questions and concerns addressed and to have the doctor listen to you
  • Bring a support person - spouse, family member, or friend
  • Have the help and support of other patients who may be dealing with the same issues
  • Enjoy a more relaxed pace of care
  • Opportunity to participate as much or as little as comfortable.

Sharing Experiences

Many participants find that they learn a great deal from these appointments as parents share experiences and advice during the discussion. All the participants will either be the same age or experience the same chronic medical issue depending on the type of group visit. A blog will be set up for each group so you can share with others in your group outside of office visits.

Maintaining Confidentiality

All participants sign a privacy and confidentiality agreement and the visit is billed as a typical office visit with your usual co-pay. Participation is voluntary so if you prefer traditional individual appointments, you may still schedule them at any time. Shared medical appointments or group visits offer another alternative for your health care - and you will likely find them very educational and enjoyable as well!

To schedule your appointment, please call 972-294-0808
