Dr. Bain is now hosting Group Visits for preventative visits (well child checks) for ages 12 months and younger as well as chronic medical issues including eczema, allergies and ADHD. "Healthy Kids Pediatrics is in the business of healing people. The group medical model allows physicians to do what they were meant to do; to heal and to teach." - Deborah Z. Bain, M.D.
There is no additional charge for the group office visits. Insurance will be billed for the complexity of the visit and only applicable copays will be requested unless the patient is self-pay.
What to Expect
When you arrive for your appointment you will be escorted to a private exam room where your child will receive a quick exam from Dr. Bain and address some specific or very short issues.
You and your child will then meet in the group visit room with other parents and with children the same age or the same medical diagnosis depending on the type of visit. In this casual environment we hope that parent's will chat and get to know each other.
Dr. Bain will come in and talk on some very specific topics related to your child's age or medical condition. For instance, at the 1 Month Well Child Check one of the topics will be Optimal Nutrition for the Breastfeeding Mom. At the 6 month Well Child Check one of the topics will be Optimal First Foods for Your Baby. At the Eczema visit the Topic will be focused on our Healing Program.
Then we can break out and those that need vaccines or will go back to an exam rooms where a nurse will be waiting for you or to check out to schedule lab appointment.
Benefits of GROUP Appointments
Aside from more time with Dr. Bain some of the other advantages include:
Will provide you with the opportunity to:
Sharing Experiences
Many participants find that they learn a great deal from these appointments as parents share experiences and advice during the discussion. All the participants will either be the same age or experience the same chronic medical issue depending on the type of group visit. A blog will be set up for each group so you can share with others in your group outside of office visits.
Maintaining Confidentiality
All participants sign a privacy and confidentiality agreement and the visit is billed as a typical office visit with your usual co-pay. Participation is voluntary so if you prefer traditional individual appointments, you may still schedule them at any time. Shared medical appointments or group visits offer another alternative for your health care - and you will likely find them very educational and enjoyable as well!
